I wondered if it would work out in my favor. Before making a hasty decision I listed my pros and cons to see if the time that would be required would cause issues with my family time, would there be room for further advancement on the Job, and what the stress levels would be like. In making the right decision some of my decision- making came from that of the Stages of Decision-Making Process that we are learning about in the first chapter in the book.
Stages of decision making that the book speaks of are "identify and iagnose the problem, generate alternative solutions, evaluate alternatives, make the choice, implement the decision, and evaluate the decision" (Bateman & Snell, 2011, p 89). The steps that I followed when making my decision were, am I pleased with the environment that I work in, how does this affect my health during stressful days, would I doing the best work I can do, do would I work effectively with my employees, and what was the benefit package like. Some of the decision making process that I used was similar to that in the text chapter three.
Before making the final decision I ebated, there are problems on Jobs some are large problems, and some are smaller problems. Most problems can be solved if each party works to solve the problems. From the research that I did before leaving one Job which had a very low stress level and going to another with a high stress level was very beneficial in my decision- making process. Something was missing in my current Job, which was a lack of excitement, lack of challenge; I was very bored not to mention there would be an increase in pay.
The decision I made was to leave the existing Job and go after the anagement position. Due to the pros and cons along with the research that was done the decision to enhance my career was the best decision for many of reason. Whenever making a decision, one should take their time if time permits, make a list of pros, cons, likes, and dislikes, and in the end make sure that they are not pressured into making a decision that will affect their life negatively.
