Jen Stark

jen stark BY z33sh4n786 Jen Stark Jen Stark is an artist that is consists of paper sculptures, she was born in 1983 in Miami, Florida. Jen studied at (MICA) Maryland Institute College of Art. What influences her is all sorts of things including microscopic patterns in nature, wormholes and sliced anatomy. The theme of Jen Starks work is purely based on creating creative paper sculptures. Its based on replication and infinity, echoing patterns and intelligent individual designs that are found in the beautiful world of nature.

Since she has been expanding her work from paper she took it up a level by even including wood and mirrors in her mind blowing work. Her exquisite sculptures and drawings has enjoyed renaissance of context. The one of the materials that artist used was different coloured paper, I think it works well with this piece of work Just as it does with others because Jen Stark is an artist that loves to explore complexity and uses the vibrant colours to help it have that special effect.

Also the different colours give it reflection of her theme of nature and also resembles her theme that she looks upon in creating her work by using different colours that could even have a meaning or resembles something towards nature that each colour has. Features of Jen Starks work The colour she has used in this piece of work are very bright, vibrant and attractive, she might of used these colours because she says ''Vibrant Art is like a breath of fresh air'', the bright colours resembles to her motive and also makes it much more attractive.

The line she uses are smooth and pointy, she might of used this because she might be making a 3-d piece of work and might want to give the work a rough feeling by the lines being smooth and pointy. The texture in this piece of work is rough by the shapes created and the lines are smooth but also pointy that gives it a rough feeling and Jen Stark could of made this by making several triangles all the same size and kept sticking them together compactly or kept over lapping each one in a swirl and gets bigger in each swirl.

The shape that Jen stark uses are the papers that she uses but cuts them into triangles she chose this because of it giving it a rough feeling by making the lines smooth and pointy so when you brush you ''re hands over it it''s a rough feeling, and also the tone of this piece of work is a bit of both.

Light and dark, it has a even balance of colours that are used and also the composition of this work is immaculate, the way it is arranged is in a very neat order working itself up from a small swirl to an increasing larger swirl and also it makes it ook 3-d by the piece of work coming out, from small to large and its almost as its coming to life by keeping on enlarging and starting to pop out like a flower.

This links to my work by me using the same materials as Jen stark by using paper that she uses and also I use a wide range of vibrant colours that makes me have a bit of both of each light, dark colours giving me a tone of both, and also the feeling of it, it''s a rough feeling because its pointy with the triangle shapes used similarly to Jens Starks shapes.
