She believed that every woman deserved to be treated with respect by men of all color no matter the color of the women''s skin. Sojourner Truth''s poem, ''Ain''t I a Woman,'' has three separate points. First, she challenged the idea that women were weaker and needed to be taken care of. Second, she argued that women were as smart as any man.

Thirdly, she explained that Christ came from a woman so women should have equal rights. What stood out in my mind the most was that she had to work in the fields Just s hard if not harder than the male slaves,but wasn''t considered as good as a man. And this line "Then that little man in black there, he says women cant have as much rights as men, ''cause Christ wasn''t a woman! Where did your Christ come from?

Where did your Christ come from? From God and a woman! Man had nothing to do with Him. " People often used (and still use) the Bible to Justify slavery and condone mistreating women. 1. "That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud puddles, or gives me any best place, and ain''t I a woman? ". l believe Truth wanted to challenge the idea of the general understanding of a "woman" and womanhood.
